Elder Fields
In elder fields, I now stand
No car, boarding pass or tram
brought me here
I arrive alone—no reason why
except the incontinence of time—
as days deliberate.
An open mind, yet, still, skidding into memories
I will accept goodbyes one more time
from whom and what I knew
to believe is all I have until—
it’s redefined by elder fields.
Years tinker with all I see—I look twice as if to be—surely
what I perceive is still the same—or is it me?
I don’t think I’ve changed
But oh, I have—I have aged
I know—I know
I will embrace these moments
Even as I let them go
